January
Creation
of four page lift-out placed into the centre of the
Waterfall Way Booklet. This lift-out showcased the
road map for easy access to the many towns & villages
in the Northern NSW region. It also showcased the
specific areas of Southern Gold Coast, Northern Rivers,
Tenterfield, New England and Coffs Coast. 10 000
copies of this lift-out were included in the new
A4 size Waterfall Way booklet.
Radio
schedule with Radio 97 Tweed Heads – 30 second commercial
for Northern NSW and 60 jingle.
February
Printing
and distribution of Tweed & Southern Gold Coast
Fitness Trails brochure. This brochure promotes accommodation
centres, restaurants, tours & attractions in
the Tweed & Southern Gold Coast regions and identifies
a variety of businesses found along the 'fitness
trails' that link the communities from Palm Beach
to Tweed Heads. This brochure works in conjunction
with the Daily News 'Take Time Out' magazine by profiling
the region in a unified format.
March
Re-printing
of 4 page full colour Northern NSW lift out map & brochure
in the Waterfall Way booklet. Once again, this lift-out
will be distributed between Palm Beach, Tenterfield,
Armidale, Tamworth, Nambucca Heads, Coffs Harbour,
Grafton, Casino, Lismore, Ballina and Tweed Heads.
April
National
promotion of Aussie Gateways and the Northern NSW & Southern
Gold Coast regions via Force Ten Promotions. This
company was responsible for coordinating a national
appeal to raise money for East Timor. The major prize
was a holiday on the Southern Gold Coast to be chosen
from a number of operators who are members of the
Aussie Gateways network. Each of these establishments
received recognition at the presentation dinner held
on the 3oth April, 2004 at the Blaxland Ballroom,
Swissotel, Market St, Sydney, attended by 350 people.
The entire promotion utilised television, print media
and internet advertising that ran nationally over
a three month period. Special thanks to Gold Coast
Airport, Twin Towns Resort, Tweed Coast Limousines,
North Star Holiday Resort, Tweed Endeavour Cruises
and Blue Room Restaurant at Tweed Heads Bowls Club
for offering prizes.
Advertisement
in “Take Time Out” magazine, distributed from Palm
Beach to Pottsville. A bonus offer was also given
to members of Aussie Gateways in that they were given
a 20% discount if they chose to advertise in this
publication. Special thanks to Tweed Daily News for
this generous offer. All members are encouraged to

May
Took
a new approach to print media & internet advertising
by working with “Fishing Monthly” Magazine (60 000
copies distributed annually throughout Australia)
to profile areas of Northern NSW and Southern Gold
Coast. On the Fishing Monthly web site an Aussie
Gateways banner ad has been attached to each coastal
town’s fishing report. This links directly to the
Aussie Gateways portal so that those attending the
regular fishing competitions have easy access to
accommodation in each area.
Commenced radio advertising in the Tamworth region. Jingles & radio commercials
promoting both the Southern Gold Coast and Northern NSW regions were telecast
over a three month period.
June
Coordinated
a new approach to television advertising by utilizing
Channel Nine’s production “Escape with ET” to promote
the Aussie Gateways web portal.
Continued
joint radio promotions for both Northern NSW & Southern
Gold Coast in the Tamworth window.
July
Accompanied “Escape
With ET’s” film crew to a number of locations in
the Brunswick Valley for the purpose of gaining additional
footage for a television program about the Brunswick
Valley. The Aussie Gateways web portal will feature
on this program which is scheduled to be telecast
on August 28th, 2004.

August
National
telecast of “Escape With ET” program
through Nine Network. This program featured the Brunswick
Valley, Northern NSW and directed viewers to the
Aussie Gateways web portal for further information
about the region.
Update
of Touchscreens Australia-wide. Aussie Gateways promotions
are now featured on all touchscreens situated at
Visitor Information Centres throughout Australia.
The Aussie Gateways Southern Gold Coast television
commercial features under the title “Gold Coast” and
the Aussie Gateways Northern NSW Television commercial
appears under the titles “Northern Rivers” & “NSW
North Coast.”
September
Production
of map for the Nambucca Valley, Northern NSW. This
map will be used as an insert within the Northern
NSW map when doing promotions for the southern areas.
As with all Aussie Gateways promotions, all members
gain benefit from the media exposure taken by any
specific areas as viewers/readers are always directed
to the Aussie Gateways portal where all members are
represented.
Print media promotion for Aussie Gateways through the Northern Star in association
with posters of the Group 1 Rugby League Competition Winners.
October
Aussie
Gateways gained Finalist status in the Business Section
of the NSW/ACT Community Enterprise Awards. Media
exposure for the Aussie Gateways Project and the
AG web portal gained via News stories due to this
finalist status – Presentation Night was held
in Coffs Harbour, NSW on October 30th, 2004.
November
Aussie
Gateways built an affiliation with “Holidays
With Kids” magazine. A full page map supplied
by Aussie Gateways was used in the magazine published
in November. Aussie Gateways members (who took out
their own advertising in the magazine) were highlighted
on the Aussie Gateways map and readers were directed
to a page number where each member’s advertisement was placed. This full
page ad also featured photo images of the regions of Tenterfield, Armidale,
Ebor, Dorrigo, Bowraville and Scott’s Head.

Aussie Gateways map of Northern NSW to Northern Star
newspaper for special feature entitled “On
The Water.” This 8 page full colour “lift
out” publication is published as a summer recreation
guide. It features an Aussie Gateways banner ad on
the front page with images relating to Aussie Gateways “Business
Links,” “Tourism Information,” “Town
Profiles,” “Cuisine,” “Fishing” and “Location
Maps.” It is accompanied by the Aussie Gateways
logo and URL.
Aussie
Gateways featured in the Northern Star publication “Explore
Around the Coast” This publication has wide
circulation throughout Northern NSW, including an
existing readership of over 44 000 with an extra
2000 copies being distributed to Visitor Information
Centres within the region. Aussie Gateways featured
on a number of banner ads throughout the publication
and we supplied a half page map of the region (with
the AG logo and URL) for inclusion in the magazine.
