Mullumbimby
'The Biggest Little Town in Australia'
part of the Brunswick Valley...
One of the FIRST Football Clubs
in Australia
... Country Rugby League 1903
Once
upon a time, at the foot of the biggest 'little' mountain
in Australia (Mt Chincogan) in the biggest 'little' valley
in Australia, there sprung up the biggest 'little' town in
Australia known as Mullumbimby.
Out of the town emerged the biggest 'little' Football Club
(1903) known as the Mullumbimby Football Club,
This club nurtured and brought forth in time the Mullumbimby
Giants' (RLFC).
The Club was one of the first football clubs in Australia
to be established with meetings being held as early as 1903.
The
Giants were known for their enthusiasm on &
off the field. They worked hard, trained hard and enjoyed
playing the great game of Rugby League throughout the region.
There were many players who made representative teams over
the years including the Australian Rugby League Kangaroo Team.

Keeping the Rugby League tradition alive, and nurturing future
players, the Mullumbimby Junior Rugby League Football Club
was formed in 1973.
The
'little giants' are still progressing through the ranks
year after year. They focus on being
(see that's
my town tvc)
... big in fitness,
... big in weight training,
... big in diet and
... big in heart.

Events
contested over the years in the
Brunswick Valley...
The Mullumbimby Chincogan Charge
(Foot Race)
The challenge was to get to the top of
Mt Chincogan and back again as quickly as possible. An excellent
warm up exercise to start the day for
the many dairy farmers who lived in the valley.
The Local Amateur Athletic Club known as the 'little
A's' were major competitors in this race. The
race became the breeding ground of some up and coming champions.
The Brunswick Valley Woodchop
Carnival
(Tree Chopping Race)
The challenge was to chop the selected tree as skilfully
as possible with the razor sharp axe without injury to yourself.
The Woodchop Committee staged many carnivals over the years
for locals and visitors to enjoy.
Now, the valley hosts the Annual 'State of Origin' Woodchop
Relay Team Challenge.
The
Mullumbimby Bull & Bronc Spectacular
(Hold on and hope !)
The
Brunswick Surf Life Saving Association
(IRB & Surf Boat Race)
Taking on the unpredictability of the ocean is
the job of the Surf Life Saving Unit of the Brunswick Valley.
Highly trained athletes put their life on the line when they
climb into one of the two forms of surf rescue, the traditional
Surf Boat and the IRB.
The
Annual Charity Golf Challenges
(Hand Eye Skills and fluid replacement techniques)
The challenge was to get all the way around the courses not
losing a bag of balls. The biggest challenge was getting away
from the 19th green before the sun went down.
The
Mullumbimby Regional Swimming Carnival
(Swimming & Water Sports)
held at the Petria Thomas Olympic Pool.
Before this pool was constructed Mullumbimby had the biggest
'little' pool in Australia at only 33mtrs long.
It does not matter where they trained or what they
used as training equipment, the valley
still turned out a world champion.
