Waterfall Way Towns Nambucca Valley
Nambucca Heads, Macksville, Bowraville, Taylors Arm
Scott's Head.

The place you will want to revisit Nambucca Valley, North Coast NSW is a central location on the Pacific Highway halfway between Sydney and Brisbane. The Nambucca Valley is the southern gateway to Sub Tropical Australia. As well as being part of the Pacific Coast Touring Route the Nambucca Valley is the southern coastal end of the scenic Waterfall Way.

Pristine beaches, historic towns and villages, productive farmland and tranquil rainforests make this an idealic holiday destination. Coffs Harbour, Dorrigo, Bellingen, South West Rocks and Kempsey are less than a one hour drive away - Port Macquarie is just a little further afield.

'Unspoilt', 'Unpretentious', 'Natural' and 'Friendly' are words most often used to describe the Nambucca Valley. It is the place you remember visiting when you were a child - and it is still just as memorable! It is also the place for those wanting a Sea Change.

The eastern boundary stretches from Scotts Head in the south to Valla Beach in the north - 23 kilometres of picturesque coastline broken only by the Nambucca River joining the ocean at Nambucca Heads. The western boundary stretches to the mountain rainforests of the Great Dividing Range.

Whilst the original industries of timber and dairy farming are still important to the Nambucca Valley economy, they have been joined by other crops and ventures. Beef cattle, bananas, macadamia nuts and oyster farming have become important primary industries. Herbs, bush tucker and cut flowers are growing industries. Various manufacturers have discovered the economic and lifestyle advantages of this region and are relocating to the industrial areas in Macksville and Nambucca Heads.

In recent years the Nambucca Valley has become a popular retirement destination and services catering for this section have grown. The area boasts two very active Arts Councils providing a range of artistic recreations and the Nambucca Valley Bridge Club is one of the largest in rural NSW.
Those preferring a more active lifestyle have a range sporting clubs to choose from.

The Nambucca Valley enjoys a sub tropical climate without extreme weather conditions. Temperatures range from an average of 19 degrees Celsius in winter to 27 degrees Celsius in summer. Hinterland areas experience a few frosty winter mornings but by mid morning it is another perfect day. This is not a flood prone area - while local roads may be cut for a short period, flooding of houses/shops is extremely rare.

Something about the Nambucca Valley makes you want to return - postcards on rock at the famous V Wall tell of family holidays going back over forty years. "I came here with my grandparents, now I'm bringing my grandkids" is a story often told. Perhaps it is the effect of the Nambucca River, which is shaped like a boomerang or maybe there really is something in the squeaky clean sand! Whatever the reason, be warned, you will want to make a return visit to the Nambucca!

You are invited to discover the magic of the Nambucca Valley. A friendly welcome is assured. Your holiday can be as active and adventurous as you desire - or you can relax and do nothing except enjoy our piece of Paradise.
