Congratulations to all staff at North Star Holiday Resort, Hastings Point
for their recent success in the Tweed Shire Business Excellence Awards.
Ian & Ashley Beadel’s Resort was announced the overall winner at the
BEX Awards Dinner on Friday June 27th, 2003, receiving the “Tweed Business
of the Year Award” after also winning their category of “Tourism, Hospitality
& Recreation” 10+ Employees. Well done North Star and congratulations
from all members of the Aussie Gateways network!
Aussie
Gateways On-line Business Directory
We have started to gather businesses together to contribute to our regional
promotions and become part of the Aussie Gateways On-line Business Directory.
Businesses within the Northern Rivers and Southern Gold Coast regions
now have the opportunity to be listed on-line with a link to their own
web sites, a contact phone number and be listed in Aussie Gateways print
media. As with our tourism members 70% of membership contributions from
the business sector will be allocated to media promotions for each of
the regions. This allows businesses (who are “second wave” beneficiaries
of tourism yield) to contribute to regional promotions. Special thanks
to CPS Realty (Commercial Property Sales) of Murwillumbah for becoming
major sponsors of the on-line business network.
Aussie
Gateways Television Program
We are in the planning stages of producing a thirty minute television
program to be telecast in November 2003 throughout regional Queensland,
regional NSW and regional Victoria. This program will have a potential
viewing audience of 4 million people. The program will be divided into
7 minute segments looking at tourism, business and educational stories
about people and places in the Northern Rivers and Southern Gold Coast
regions. Segments will be made available to Aussie Gateways members only
and will carry a cost of $1 000.00 per minute with preference going to
those who choose more than one minute. If you are interested in being
part of this pilot program, please contact Mark or Lisa for a copy of

initiative is July 31st, 2003 so if you’d like your establishment showcased
to a potential audience of 4 million people for a minimum cost, please
let Mark & Lisa know asap.
Another
Successful Campaign into New Zealand
We recently joined Gold Coast Airport’s cooperative advertising campaign
into New Zealand via the Christchurch Press. Once again this was a very
successful campaign with Aussie Gateways receiving 4 059 accesses from
New Zealand in the week the campaign ran. We have been averaging 800 to
1000 accesses each week from New Zealand so this was a significant result.

New
Stats Program
Most of our member’s logos and icons have now been linked up to our new
software that monitors the number of times web users leave our site to
access the sites of our members. We will keep you informed of your stats
on a regular basis via email or a phone call. If you want to know details
