Media
advertising of the Aussie Gateways network and the Northern Rivers &
Southern Gold Coast regions has continued over the past two months with
television schedules booked in the Toowoomba, Lismore and Newcastle windows.
You may have seen the Aussie Gateways corporate commercial on air in the Northern Rivers region. This was produced in early May and has been put to air in the Lismore viewing window through TEN (15/5/02 to 31/5/02), NBN (2/6/02 to 11/6/02) and Prime (15/6/02 to 25/6/02.) |

This commercial explains the Aussie Gateways concept of working together to build the Northern Rivers region and encourages tourism industry operators to join the network. By increasing exposure of the Aussie Gateways project we have gained a number of enquiries from industry operators based in all parts of the region with many of them taking out membership in recent weeks. The Southern Gold Coast and Northern Rivers television commercials are currently on air in the Newcastle viewing area. The schedule runs from June 2nd, to June 15th, 2002 and has 40 spots. By using a split schedule we have been able to share the cost of air time between the two accounts (AG Southern Gold Coast & AG Northern Rivers) and give the commercials equal air time. This has been a cost effective way of advertising in the Newcastle television window as this area is reasonably expensive for TV advertising. As both commercials direct viewers to the Aussie Gateways portal we should benefit from the combined strength of this cooperative advertising model. The
Newcastle window has a total population of 676,000 people (250,000 households)
and covers the Newcastle city area as well as towns such as Scone, Muswellbrook,
Dungog, Singleton, Denman, Maitland, Port Stephens and Cessnock. Please
monitor your enquiries and let us know what kind of a response there has
been. |

The Aussie Gateways full colour brochure will be printed within the next few weeks. It lists all Aussie Gateways members and can be used by members as an information resource for visitors as well as a quick reference for future contact from visitors. We will leave space for members to stamp their own contact details and encourage all members to "on-sell" attractions, restaurants and accommodation centres to visitors as they come in contact with them. By using the brochure, AG members can suggest accommodation at the establishments of other AG members to visitors who are passing through the area. It is in this way that the Aussie Gateways network can "help us to help each other" thus giving everyone a share of visitor yield. | ||
| Some members are also working together to arrange holidays for staff members at various areas within the region. By linking together through the Aussie Gateways network, members are finding a number of advantages that we had not thought of before. This has been very positive and encouraging. | |||
