Northern NSW Brochure
Our new brochure will be printed this week. Special thanks to those members who sent in new photos of their establishments for the brochure. We have wanted to update our files for a few months now and your help has made the changeover process very smooth. We have re-designed the brochure a few times in keeping with our new logo and revamped image for Aussie Gateways. Please view the final draft by clicking here … www.aussiegateways.com.au/holiday-guide
If you have not yet sent a new photo of your establishment and would like your logo & link updated, please email it and any new information to

Australian Bream Tournament
The Tweed River event which formed part of the Australian Bream Tournament Series, held on May 28th & 29th was a great success. As you are aware Aussie Gateways sponsored the event by providing maps of the river and giving on-line exposure to the event. The good news is that one of the fishing competitors (who is a co-owner of the “Fishing Monthly” Group) kindly donated his prize money of $1 000.00 to Aussie Gateways in appreciation for the work contributed towards the event. We were surprised and delighted to receive this and are thinking of using it for a television schedule promoting Aussie Gateways and the Southern Gold Coast. (…as many of our Tweed members contribute to our Southern Gold Coast promotions) If you are a Tweed Heads member and would like to see this money spent in another way, please let us know asap. The success of the Tweed River Bream Tournament has convinced organisers to return next year and in fact, to make it an annual event! This can only be beneficial to the Tweed as events such as this are excellent for stimulating the local economy.

Further to this, the “Fishing Monthly” Group (tournament organiser) is seriously considering the Tweed as a venue for the grand final of the Australian Bream Series in future years. This would be fantastic for the Tweed as the event attracts anglers from all over Australia and media networks cover the event closely, thus giving exposure to the local area and many townships positioned within the Northern NSW region.

As mentioned in our last newsletter, if you have a local event that you would like Aussie Gateways to advertise on-line please send the details. We are more than happy to promote any event in Northern NSW as such events encourage increased visitation to regional Australia.

Tweed Discover Booklet
Aussie Gateways has continued its affiliation with the Daily News “Discover” Booklet. The second edition of this magazine is available as of this week.

Setting Up Destinational Marketing of Northern NSW
Over the past few months Aussie Gateways has embarked on a number of strategies aimed at stimulating awareness of and interest in the Northern NSW region. The strategies used are listed below.
· Northern NSW maps and articles placed in “Holiday With Kids” magazine. This company prints 60 000 copies of the magazine twice per year and distributes to newsagencies, wholesalers and operators throughout Australia and internationally in the USA, Canada and the South Pacific.
· Production and supply of A1 sized, full colour maps of Northern NSW which have been placed on display in Hungry Jack’s Stores within Northern NSW.
· The Aussie Gateways Northern NSW brochure, carrying vouchers for meal deals at Hungry Jack’s stores and maps of the region will encourage travellers to venture into new areas and experience the best of what the region has to offer.
· The Aussie Gateways 30 sec television commercial specifically identifying Northern NSW, showcases the beauty and diversity of our region and encourages visitors to experience inland areas, mountain valleys and rainforests as well as the coastal strip.
· The establishment of a regional Festival and Events section of the Aussie Gateways portal encourages visitation to specific towns at selected times of the year.

Thanks again to all members who send feedback. Your ideas and comments are always welcome.

All the best,
Mark & Lisa Russell
