Local’s Card Promotion
We are currently speaking to the Far North Coast Branch of Surf Life Saving Australia with the view to making local surf clubs the next to benefit from sales of the Aussie Gateways Local’s Card. (You may recall the initial beneficiary of the sale of Local’s Cards was the NBN Telethon Children’s Health Services Appeal) As the surf clubs consist of volunteers who do a lot of fund-raising to purchase much-needed life saving equipment and provide a safe environment for our many visitors each year; we feel this arrangement will be of great benefit to all concerned.

*The Surf Clubs will receive much needed funds.
* Surf Club members who travel to many areas of the Northern Rivers and Southern Gold Coast on a regular basis for Surf Carnivals & training etc have the opportunity to receive discounts on accommodation and meals.
* Aussie Gateways members become the preferred choice for accommodation and meals thus boosting their turnover.

We have had a couple of people contact us to say they have asked about Local’s Card discounts at places listed on the Aussie Gateways portal as Local’s Card participants and have been told the staff know nothing about it. Please let all staff members know if you are offering a discount and make sure they are familiar with the conditions of your offer. We also encourage you to display the laminated poster sent to you when you initially became part of the Local’s Card promotion.

Aussie Gateways Television Program
We are in the planning stages of producing a thirty minute television program to be telecast in November 2003 throughout regional Queensland, regional NSW and regional Victoria. This program will have a potential viewing audience of 4 million people. The program will be divided into 7 minute segments looking at tourism, business and educational stories about people and places in the Northern Rivers and Southern Gold Coast regions. Segments will be made available to Aussie Gateways members only and will carry a cost of $1 000.00 per minute with preference going to those who choose more than one minute. If you are interested in being part of this pilot program, please contact Mark or Lisa for a copy of the prospectus. Ph: (02) 66801424.

Media Promotions
In light of recent international events that have impacted the tourism industry and in response to our most recent “media preference” surveys from members, we have decided to keep our television promotions within the three to five hour drive area for the next few months. As such we will look at booking schedules into the Tamworth, Toowoomba and Brisbane markets.

New Stats Software
We are pleased to advise that we now have new software that lets us know the number of times web users leave our Aussie Gateways portal to access the sites of our members. We are still in the process of connecting all icons on every page so that statistics can be recorded and reported back to our members. We will let you know when this process has been completed so that we can tell you how much traffic has gone through Aussie Gateways to your own web site within a particular time frame. Special thanks to Ralph at Norex for developing this software. This is innovative, “cutting edge” technology and it is wonderful to see it come from a person in our own region.

Your Feedback
As always, your input into preferred regional media promotions and ways to shape the Aussie Gateways campaigns is very much encouraged and appreciated. Please let us know if you have any suggestions or feedback.

All the best for the coming months.
