The following establishments joined Aussie Gateways over the past few months and are doing a great job in “flying the flag” for the New England region and also making cooperative “Northern NSW” promotions possible

The Northern NSW television commercial has been very well received by members. Thank you to all who given such positive feedback in relation to the production quality of this tvc. We are very happy with it ourselves and appreciate its value in allowing the combined buying power of Northern Rivers and New England to reach further into the market place. By working as a team, we really can achieve more!

Local’s Card Promotion
Thank you to all members who offered discounts last year as part of our Local’s Card promotion. We now have a new promotion about to begin via our affiliation with Far North Coast Surf Lifesaving Clubs. These clubs have agreed to sell Aussie Gateways Local’s Cards and become the beneficiaries of the sale of these cards. This will enable the clubs to purchase much-needed equipment and continue their work of keeping the local beaches safe for both locals and visitors.

As such, please let us know if you would like to change your Local’s Card special offer or join the Local’s Card campaign if you were not part of it last year. Also, we are happy to invite all our new members who are listed in the On-line Business Directory to join the Locals’ Card Promotion. For those of you who have not participated before, the way it works is Aussie Gateways members email to us a special deal or discount you may like to offer to local people. eg: “10% off price of goods & services” or “Pay for one item receive a second at half price” This is then listed on the web under “Local’s Card” pages and on the “Holiday Packages” page. It is also listed in print media sent to every person who purchases a Locals’ Card. The special deal is redeemed when a Local’s Card is presented at the selected establishment.

The establishments offering Local’s Card deals are also given exposure in newspapers & booklets and are included in radio scripts that are put to air in Tweed Heads, Lismore & Grafton. Click here to view 2003 scripts. These special deals entice local people who have purchased the Aussie Gateways Local’s Cards to take short breaks within the region and to spend money at local establishments.
Please contact us via email if you would like to be part of the Aussie Gateways Local’s Card promotions. Include in the email the special deal you would like to offer. lisa@aussiegateways.com.au
Please Note: This is a long-term marketing strategy to encourage local people to move around the region and choose preferred traders for a variety of goods and services. Please send your “specials for 2004” through as soon as possible so they can be showcased on the web & in other forms of media.

Television Schedule NBN
A schedule was booked with NBN for telecast into the Northern Rivers window from November 16th to November 30th). It used the 30 second Aussie Gateways Northern NSW commercial to encourage residents to experience the many places & activities available within a three hour drive in the areas located between the East Coast, Tweed Heads, Tenterfield, Armidale & Wooli. It also used the 15 second Aussie Gateways corporate commercial to encourage local operators to join the Aussie Gateways regional marketing network. This schedule was made possible with the combined buying power of the Northern Rivers and New England regions. The Southern Gold Coast commercial was put to air separately in September and aired in the Tamworth region.

Aussie Gateways Flagship Television Program
We have had a number of members express interest in having their establishments featured in our first Aussie Gateways television program. As mentioned in previous newsletters, this 30 minute program will showcase our lifestyle in regional Australia and will be telecast through the TEN network to all areas of regional Queensland, NSW & Victoria in a time-slot of 6.00pm Saturday. This carries a potential viewing audience of 4 million people.

If you would like to be part of this new promotional venture, the cost is
$1 000.00 per minute with preference going to members who choose to take at least two minutes of the 30 minute program. Placement will be limited so segments featuring your establishment will need to be booked in writing and will be allocated on a “first in-first placed” basis. Please complete the “BOOKING FORM” attached to the following page www.aussiegateways.com.au/tvprogram (Right hand column) as soon as possible if you want to be allocated a segment. It can then be faxed to (02) 6680 2963.

A web page will be allocated for the television program so that viewers can go straight to the web sites of participating establishments/businesses for more nformation. Also, by attaching a counter to this web page, we will be able to monitor the effectiveness of the program as compared to our other forms of media advertising.

Take Time Out Magazine
You may have noticed the Aussie Gateways concept drawing map in the centre of the latest “Take Time Out” magazine. Also, a full page advertisement listing all Aussie Gateways members appeared in another section of this booklet. This is to be used by visitors as a quick access to local businesses and a guide for accommodation bookings in the future.
Like the Aussie Gateways brochures, this print media promotion carries no extra cost for members. It is included in your annual membership fees.

My apologies for the length of this newsletter but as you can see we had quite a few topics to report on. Please reply promptly to our requests for Locals’ Card promotions and booking placements in the Aussie Gateways Television program.

Our very best wishes to all for a happy Christmas and prosperous holiday season.
