BACKGROUND INFORMATION |
| The
Aussie Gateways Project aims to disperse visitors throughout the Northern
Rivers Tropical NSW region thus giving all tourism industry operators an
opportunity to gain a reasonable share of visitor yield. The project also aims to educate visitors about the many and varied attractions of the region by using a mix of cooperative media marketing including television, radio, print media and the internet. In May this year, the Federal Dept. of Industry, Science & Resources, Canberra, recognised the merits of the Aussie Gateways Project, in particular its potential to enhance all facets of the tourism industry in the Northern Rivers Tropical NSW region. As such a federal government grant from this department, to stage the Aussie Gateways Project was announced. The official launch and information night held at the Ocean Shores Country Club was the first session of the Aussie Gateways Project. Its aim was to inform tourism industry operators about the project and encourage them to attend workshops which will be held in Tweed Heads, Ballina, Lismore, Yamba, Casino and Hastings Point during the ensuing months. The Aussie Gateways Project is committed to enhancing the tourism industry in the Northern Rivers Tropical NSW Region by encouraging visitors to experience many places of interest within the region. All tourism establishments are a vital part of our tourism infrastructure and add to the character of our beautiful region. Therefore, your involvement in the workshops and your willingness to share information about your establishment and your local area will be very much appreciated. We look forward to meeting you throughout the coming year. Mark & Lisa Russell Aussie Gateways |
